A little about me

Jess's Backstory
I grew up in the North Island of New Zealand, near Auckland. This is where my love for nature, wildlife, and culture sprouted. It's the sort of place where you can still envision the feeling of the soft sand between your toes.
Due to family relationships, I spent a few years in Wales, United Kingdom, and then a hop skip and a jump to Cordova, Alaska (as if moving across the globe was that easy!). Moving from place to place, has given me a worldly view on life and taught me to embrace all connections, new and old.
During my teenage years into early adulthood, I worked at my first ever job, a non-profit, victim service agency for over five years. This is where I truly understood the importance of connection and service to others. It taught me to have a focused, organized, and resourceful mindset. I loved working with all walks of life. For instance, I would teach art classes to children, coordinate and coach boys and girls running programs, assist adults and elderly with state assistance programs, and assist/advocate for victims of violence.
In my free time after work, I would take portrait photos of my partner, friends and family. Snapping candid and posed photos made me feel like I had the superpower to freeze time (and in a way as photographers, we do!).
My family has always supported me to dive deep into my passions, and this is what gave me more confidence in seeing photography as a future career path.

Connection to Photography
In February 2024, my life took a turn on another path, the path of motherhood! This is where my focus shifted. My primary focus was now on my little bundle of joy. With all this time away from a 9-5 job, I started looking back at childhood photos to reminisce the cherished memories my family and I had. Looking back fondly has helped me look forward optimistically. Not only to take photos of my growing family, but also to capture photos for others like YOU. It was time I finally dive deep into this pool of possibilities, and I am so happy it is something I am truly passionate about! Ever since I have had my camera, I slowly was building my portfolio.
In April 2025, I made an official business launch. Ever since the launch, I have had an abundance of bookings, and experienced sessions inside AND outside my list of packages seen on my website!
